BREED

After the first track released by B.R.E.E.D landed directly in the Top Ten Beatport Dubstep Charts in 2010, the road was thereby soundly paved for this matured identity. B.R.E.E.D’s colorfully-raw avenues have become the foundations for his evolving production and musical promenade with his upcoming releases featuring heavily-layered basslines and exquisitely original intonations.

Shortly after the Top Ten Dubstep success, B.R.E.E.D released an EP on High Chai Recordings called “Sound Killer,” of which both tracks appeared in the Beatport dubstep charts yet again! But this notable activity was induced by layers of exploration and intellectual evolution. Previously, under his initial name, DJ Nasha, this self-manufactured artist claimed the World DMC Championship (India) in 1999 and 2000, of which he appeared for the finals of in New York and London. He then capitalized on this energetic snowball of creation and consequently changed the musical horizon in his homeland of India. Recently labeled on MistaJam’s BBC Radio One Program as the “dubstep ambassador of India,” B.R.E.E.D has evolved his musical disposition from an exclusively self-trained DJ and producer from Bombay India, to an artist who has now played alongside internationally-recognized personalities like Cold Cut, Freq Nasty, Caspa, and Howie B. Without the support and infrastructure of professional musical institutes to aid his progress, this DJ and producer has sculpted a powerful magnetism among the world of experimental aficionados with his own determined hands.

Arjun Vagale

Arjun Vagale is undoubtedly the most hardworking and prolific DJ in the Indian EDM scene. Having spent over a decade in an ongoing love affair with house music, he tirelessly promotes the genre in all ways possible, shuffling between a hectic DJ schedule, a super-successful live act, long studio sessions, running a promising record label, and moonlighting as a promoter.

In 2004, Arjun partnered with two close friends to form what would rapidly and unexpectedly become India’s hottest live act – Jalebee Cartel. With its genre-bending sets the band has generated the biggest buzz ever, being featured in DJ Mag, MixMag, Rolling Stone, and Elle Magazine’s list of 100 Rising Stars.

There’s good reason that Arjun Vagale’s name has become synonymous with high quality in the Indian EDM culture. Whether packing in the dance floor or producing yet another monster tune, Arjun’s absolute dedication to house music is apparent in everything he does.

Vachan Chinnappa

A small-town boy from South India, I’d already shocked the family and opted out of the mainstream when I picked being in a hard rock band called Z Axis over a conventional career. For five years, I sang covers of 1980’s heavy metal bands at small gigs, and had a great time doing it till, like most other garage bands, the financial crunch did us in. I hung up my (salvaged and home made!) leather bands but not my love for music, which is what kept me looking for other ways through which I could explore sound, and led me to DJ’ing.

In the 13 years that I have been spinning records, I’ve held court at some of the country’s best clubs, and happily provided aural memories to lots of celebrations.

Tuhin’s sounds have infused to form a hard-hitting, bass line loaded, synth laced, in-your-face attitude, charged with the pure energy of a thousand clubbers. He plays regularly at top clubs around the country, and has a dedicated fan following wherever he goes.

Wayne

Being no rookie to the club scene, Wayne’s career spans more than a decade. Crossing vast musical backgrounds over his years as a DJ, he continues to acquire a keen ear and passion for dance music. There is just so much to share with dance music.

You can tell when Wayne is on the decks. The music emanating from the man is the perfect club mix of driving percussion and soaring musicality, bursting out of the speakers, soaking everyone into melody, drenching them in sound. On the floor, where it really matters, his crowd experiences all the peaks and troughs that make his music so unique. Wayne, a music obsessive who grew up on rock and pop was, like so many DJ’s turned onto the power of house music in the late 90’s. Living in Chennai, he’s been playing tunes for a few years before running his own nights at EC41, on the coast based on the outskirts of the city with some friends. The clubbers loved it and immediately took to his sound.

Wayne is probably the only Indian DJ to have played for Gatecrasher when they were on tour in India.
